Christopher the Christmas Tree traces the story of a lonely little tree whose only dream is to become a Christmas Tree in the home of a special family. He is teased by all the other trees for being too small and scraggly and is left behind year after year until finally he is forgotten about. An awkward owl named Whooty runs away from his troubled home life and accidentally stumbles upon Christopher. By now the massive Christopher stands like a beacon in the empty tree farm. The two become best friends, along with the numerous other woodland creatures displaced by the loss of their forest. Christopher delights in his newfound role as the protector of the Whooty and the animals until one day he is unexpectedly chopped down, loaded onto a big red truck, and taken for firewood. Whooty tries everything to save his friend, including recruiting the help of the other animals. They arrive to find Christopher laying on the ground in the darkness, tied to steel cables, about to be cut into pieces. Suddenly Christopher is hoisted into the air amid a burst of bright, colored lights to reveal he has been chosen as the Christmas Tree for all the children of the world at the United Nations! Whooty and the animals rejoice along with the thousands of children and families in attendance, as Christopher's dream comes true in a bigger way than he ever imagined. Christopher tells Whooty to return to Hidden Hollow and plant all of his pine cones, so there will always be a Christopher the Christmas Tree.

A tiny tree's dream of becoming a Christmas tree fades as he is left behind, year after year, until he grows too tall to fit in anyone's home. One day he is unexpectedly chopped down and taken to be the president's personal Christmas tree.
